The Shires by Terence Cuneo. A peaceful subject? Not on your life! What with floundering about in mud, contending with frequent showers and avoiding the exuberance of three enormous brutes with hooves like soup plates, the sketching for this work took on the aspect of a hectic game of touch-last. When I was not chasing after them, they would chase me and the pattern was alternate advance and retreat, with me becoming more breathless every minute. |
The Spirit of Brooklands 1932 by Terence Cuneo. The painting depicts Sir Henry Birkin's 4.5 litre Bentley versus John Cobb's 10.5 litre Delage. |
